APPROACH

My approach is integrative, which means that we will gently process the issues you wish to discuss, and at the same time build on your strengths, and develop skills if needed.

My practice is trauma informed, and I draw from a few therapies, such as: psychodynamic, internal family systems (IFS) also known as parts work, deep brain reorienting (DBR), solution focused (SFT), and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT). With parents I also use emotion focused skills training (EFST) and collaborative problem solving (CPS). With children, and children at heart, I use play and expressive arts therapy.

PROCESS

We will look at your history, relationships, protective parts and vulnerable parts. And we will do so at your own pace, as things come up, in the context of your present life. Along with your goals, we will allow for understanding, hope, unburdening pain and fostering more harmonious and compassionate relationships with your Self, loved ones and others.

SKILLS

A good coping skill can go a long way, especially when facing a challenge in real time. We will identify your strengths and develop together the unique coping skills that work for you. You will also learn new skills and strategies that help in your daily life, parenting and caregiving.

PLAY

Play and expressive arts therapies allow us to express ourselves fully and authentically, both verbally and non-verbally. For children, especially, it is often the safest and most natural way of processing their needs, feelings, struggles, hopes, and understanding of themselves and of their world.
